About Adoption North West

Regional and Voluntary Adoption Agencies from across the North West have are working together to deliver the “Growing Families Together” campaign.

Adoption agencies, Adoption Now, Adoption Counts, Together for Adoption, Adoption in Merseyside, Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool, Adoption Matters, Barnardo’s, Nugent Adoption and Caritas Care are working collaboratively under the name Adoption North West to support those children needing families within the region.

Adopting brothers and sisters

Many of our children are brothers and sisters, and because we always try to keep them together, they often wait longer to find their adoptive families due to the lack of prospective adopters approved and waiting for more than one child.

Brothers and sisters share a special bond and keeping them together provides ongoing companionship and emotional support throughout their lives. Many of these children have been through difficult experiences and having atheir brother or sister by their side, can help them to feel safe and settle more easily into their new home.

Adopting children aged 4+

Our children who are aged 4 and over, are often classed as “older children” in the adoption world, and they also wait some of the longest times to be adopted.

Adopting a child over 4 can be a fulfilling experience, this is the time they are developing into amazing individuals with their own unique personalities. They are exploring the world and experiencing new things every day.

The strength of the parent-child bond is not determined by age but by the quality of care and support provided; with patience and understanding, families can create strong, lifelong bonds.
